As project principal, Mr. Overman had full responsibility for design and construction management of all airside facilities for a new air carrier airport, on a greenfield site.

This assignment involved the design of a new CAT III 8,800-foot runway, full parallel taxiway, five connecting taxiways, a 46,000-square-yard terminal apron, a 98,200-square-yard air cargo apron, and a perimeter roadway around the entire site. Per the EIS, the project included construction of water quality and storm water detention basins strategically located around the airfield to collect the first 0.5 inch of rainfall from all paved surfaces.

The assignment also involved a new electrical vault, primary and secondary power, edge, centerline, and touchdown zone lighting.

An unusual aspect of the project was that the drainage from pavements had to be captured to prevent contamination of the subsurface aquifers which provide potable water for the community.
